My work explores two intertwined themes, the resilience of women and the landscapes that mirror life's journey. Through bold colour, layered texture and expressive mark making I create paintings that reflect both external beauty of nature and inner strength.
Many of my works draw inspiration from the landscapes of Ontario, forests, water and expensive skies. These environments become more than scenery. They act as visual metaphors for growth movement and transformation. Just as landscapes shift with weather, season and time so too do the paths we walk through life.
Alongside these landscapes are in a deeper narrative centred on women and their journeys I am drawn to the quiet strength, resilience and complexity that women carry through life's challenges and triumphs. In some works this presence is symbolic or implied while in others it emerges more directly through form, gesture or narrative elements.
Working primarily in acrylic. I build my paintings through layers of colour and texture. I'm particularly drawn to vibrant expressive pallets that bring energy and emotional resonance to the work. These bold colours allowed the paintings to hold both power and warmth, inviting viewers to connect their own stories of place, memory and resilience.
Ultimately, my paintings seek to create spaces where landscape and human experience meet. Places that honour strength, reflection the journeys that shape who we become.
